It's Wednesday and it's the summer term in school. I'm at my desk at an hour that's way too early for this time of the school year. I don't mind. I like the quiet. I like playing music at inappropriate levels. I like watching clips of John Oliver's Last Week Tonight and giggling to my heart's content. The fun of it all is that I get to do these things in a place where doing them would be unacceptable at another time of the day.

But by 9 AM, no one else is still around. I begin to twiddle my thumbs. Did I not get a memo? Where is everybody? I bite my lip, thinking. And then I up and leave. If you're in a similar situation, here are the top 3 reasons why you should too.

3. Life is calling. The sun is shining bright outside my window. The sky is a happy blue. I picture myself having brunch in a lovely restaurant. After which, I imagine I will soak up this freedom by watching people walk by, watching the day go by, tossing my hair against the gentle summer breeze. Tempting, very tempting.

2. There's no reason to stay. I check my to-do list. Nothing urgent. Nothing that can't wait. Just one little email that I can write and send in five minutes. No powers-that-be around. No meetings. Nothing new on my Facebook news feed. No new posts on Instagram as well. Why am I still here?

1. Because why not. Because tomorrow may not be sunny like this. Because tomorrow the sky may not be as blue. Because tomorrow I may not be able to leave. Because today is today, and tomorrow is tomorrow. It's now or never. Now starts now.
