I dream of yarn

I have a suitcase full of yarn. No joke. I've got wool and cotton and silk in lace weight, sport weight, DK weight, worsted, the whole nine yards. Today's feature is a lace weight yarn from Jhocy of Dubai Knits. Shout out: Hi, Jhocy!

First off, let me give you an idea about how crazy knitters are. As I mentioned, I have a suitcase full of yarn...which I hide under my desk at home. When Will and I started dating and we were asking each other cheesy questions, he asked me something about myself that not a lot of people know about. I replied, "I knit. I have a suitcase full of yarn." A heartbeat, and then this from him: "That's it?! That's your deepest, darkest secret?!" Of course, I didn't tell him that my needles are sharp and are not allowed on planes. When I'm doing lace work and holding my beautiful yarn and my beautiful needles, I'm a woman not to be crossed.
Me and my needles notwithstanding, the knitting community around the world is vibrant, to say the least. Ravelry allows kindred spirits to share their projects, showcase their yarn stash, get hold of (free!) knitting patterns, and get to know others whose dreams are made of lace weight yarn. That was how I got to know Jhocy, a Filipina living in Dubai. She makes magnificent hand-dyed yarns of excellent quality. I got three skeins of lace weight yarn so light they're like a dream. The colorway I bought was called Winter Berries and it was such a joy to do knits and purls with it to create this shawl (Travelling Fern Lace).

I must admit that I don't always know what to do with yarn when I get my hands on them. I just know they're pretty. The Dubai Knits skeins went through several incarnations before I realized that the Traveling Lace pattern was the perfect match. As always, once you find the right pattern, the yarn becomes magic.
Thank you for the gift of beauty.
